Founded in 1975, The Help Group is the largest, most innovative and comprehensive nonprofit of its kind in the United States serving children with special needs related to autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, abuse and emotional problems.
The Help Group’s nine specialized day schools offer pre-K through high school programs for more than 1,550 students. Its broad range of mental health and therapy services, child abuse and residential programs extends its reach to more than 6,000 children and their families each year. QUALIFICATIONS: MA in social work, psychology, counseling or related field and a license or license waivered status. Must have at least one year experience working with children, adolescents and families. Familiarity with principles of family-centered, strengths-based services and group facilitation. Ability to function as part of multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of the local community and experience working with diverse populations. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform initial and ongoing strengths-based assessments of children and families. Identify and prioritize families’ needs across all domains.
Provide field-based mental health and case management services to high need, at-risk families.
Develop individualized Family Support Team, which includes multi-disciplinary professionals, the child and family, extended family members, and informal community supports.
Facilitate team meetings and fully involve families in the planning and decision-making process.
Design Family Support Plan, ensuring strategies, interventions and services are family-centered, flexible and community-based. Ensure collaboration and coordination among all agencies involved in the implementation of the Family Support Plan.
Interface with DCFS, DMH, court systems, schools, health care providers and other community liaisons.
