The Help Group is currently seeking a Part Time (20 hours per week) Certified Adapted Physical Education instructor to join our dynamic team at our San Fernando Valley campus. Our San Fernando Valley campus services students with autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. With our multidisciplinary team approach, you’ll have the opportunity to work with teaching staff, Counselors, Occupational Therapists, and Speech and Language Pathologists in individual and small group interventions.
Select appropriate curriculum content for each student.
Determine appropriate, measurable goals and objectives for each student.
Write individual education plans (I.E.P.s) for each student and participate in I.E.P. meetings.
Know and teach the content of each student’s I.E.P. /APE Goals
Modify activities and adapt materials to promote student success.
Design and use instructional grouping patterns that are varied and flexible, including individual, small group, and whole class instruction.
Collect and record student progress data. Develop and employ a means to share progress feedback with students.
Share progress data at case conferences as appropriate, and use data to revise or set new goals as necessary.
Conduct formal and informal assessments as appropriate.
Employ a positive, non-aversive approach to behavior modification and control at all times.
Attend and participate in meetings as scheduled, including in services, staff meetings, and supervision meetings.
Document all APE sessions on appropriate note forms and logs signing each entry with full name and credential, and signature at bottom of page.
Maintain district and school logs noting minutes of service received by each student.
Maintain the classroom and the school environment in a neat, orderly, safety conscious manner.
Teaching experience in the area of specialization is preferred.
