Silverlining is The Help Group’s designer resale boutique that serves as an innovative vocational training center for students with autism and other special needs. The store enables Help Group students to gain valuable experience in the many aspects of a retail operation and develop important working skills that contribute to their knowledge, self-confidence, employability and independence.
Silverlining, located in Culver City, offers new, vintage and gently used fashionable and designer clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories for men, women and children at 60-95% off retail prices. Generous donations from companies, designers, small businesses and individuals have ensured that store racks are filled with a steady stream of fabulous merchandise…from Gucci to Gap. Special recognition and appreciation for their ongoing support goes to American Rag CIE, Disney/ABC Television Group, Ed Hardy Shoes, Buffalo Exchange and Charlotte Tarantola.
It is hoped that silverlining will generate funds to continue to grow and expand the vocational training program in an effort to provide even more opportunities for our special needs community.
How to Help
The success of silverlining depends on the help and support of the community. Here are some ways you can join this worthwhile project:
- Go through your closets and donate now. Silverlining always needs gently used clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories, particularly designer and high-fashion merchandise.
- Volunteer your time. You can contribute your talents in so many ways...soliciting donations, sorting items, merchandising, pricing, actual sales, window displays, marketing and more!
- Beyond your closet...the success of this special venture is directly related to a continual supply of quality merchandise. If you have any personal connections with companies, studios, stores or merchandisers, ask them to consider donating to silverlining.
- Spread the word - "like" silverlining on Facebook.
