Wraparound is an innovative program designed to maintain at-risk children in their homes and avoid placement in institutions or other restrictive settings. Grounded in a philosophy of unconditional commitment to support families to safely and competently care for their children , Wraparound is an integrated, family-centered, strength- based and community-grounded planning process. In Wraparound, family voice and choice are crucial to defining needs. Together with child/youth and family, the Wraparound team creates strategies to address these needs, building on family strengths. Each plan is individualized and provides linkages to key resources with the family’s own community. The goal of the Wraparound planning process is family empowerment and ultimately self-sufficiency. The most important outcome of the Wraparound approach is a child/youth thriving in a permanent home and supported by normal community services and informal supports.
Who is eligible for Wraparound services? Any child with an active case with DCFS or Department of Probation and MediCal eligible. Who can refer to Wrap? Social Worker (CSW), therapist, Probation Officer, family member.
