The Help Group’s Kids Like Me programs are specially designed for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental challenges. Kids Like Me provides opportunities for children to have fun, connect with others, learn new skills, make friends, and enjoy a sense of belonging. Registration is now open for fall after-school classes at both our Sherman Oaks and Culver City campuses. This season’s schedule includes old favorites such as Aceing Autism tennis program, gaming club, basketball, and culinary kids, as well as new offerings including dinosaur club, web design and development, robotics, fine arts, animation, hip hop dance, film-making, and more.

Kids Like Me after-school programs, led by highly trained and qualified staff, provide a number of therapeutic benefits for children and teens with autism and other special needs.  Tailored specially for  this population,  Kids Like Me classes and clubs are designed not only to introduce and teach various skills, but also to foster  communication and positive and successful social interaction with peers.  Participation promotes friendships for these children, improving both self-confidence and self-esteem and leading to healthier social-emotional well-being. The diverse class offerings provide children with  opportunities to expand,  explore and engage in new hobbies and skills, and build connections with other students who share similar interests outside of the traditional classroom setting.

“The Kids Like Me after-school programs utilize an adaptive approach to make classes and activities accessible for all skill levels,” said Nicole Webb, Kids Like Me Program Director. “The children and teens who participate are able to build new skills and always have a great time!”
