Overview
All kids need opportunities to have fun, connect with others, learn new skills, make friends and enjoy a sense of belonging... That's what Kids Like Me is all about! The Help Group's Kids Like Me programs are created especially for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental challenges. Participants can enjoy after-school classes, clubs, camps, family weekend social activities and other events with peers who share similar challenges. Programs are overseen by highly-trained professionals and developed to accommodate various age and ability levels.
After-school staff supervision, snack and homework assistance are provided at no extra charge for Help Group students from 3:00 p.m. until the start of classes at 4:00 p.m.
Social Skills Groups
Led by Help Group therapists, groups are designed to facilitate social skills development in a structured, fun and supportive environment for children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s Disorder and related social challenges. Incorporating evidence-based practices, the groups assist participants in gaining competencies related to peer communication and interaction while fostering meaningful friendships.
