Advance LA: A Bingo Night to Remember

This time of year, we’re surrounded by inspiring stories of students and clients stepping into new chapters of their lives. At Advance LA, we are lucky to witness those next steps not just at graduation, but every day—often in the most unexpected and beautiful ways.
Recently, we were reminded that progress can come in the smallest moments, and still leave the biggest impact.
One of our regular attendees at Club LA—we’ll call him “A”—is a 26-year-old young adult who participates in our events in Sherman Oaks. Though primarily non-verbal, A shows up with a smile and a readiness to engage, always connecting in his own unique way with peers and staff. His mother often shares how much joy Club LA brings him, even if progress can sometimes feel uncertain.
Then came Bingo Night.
For the first time ever, A not only won a round of Bingo on his own—but he called out “Bingo!” clearly and confidently, without any prompting. His peers erupted in cheers. Staff celebrated. And when we shared the news with his mom, she was moved to tears.
That single word—“Bingo!”—was so much more than a game win. It was a moment of growth, connection, and possibility. A moment that reminded us all: progress doesn’t always follow a predictable timeline, but it is always happening.
At Advance LA, it’s moments like these that fuel our passion and our purpose. Here’s to celebrating every step forward, no matter how big or small.
