March 2023 Newsletter

To our Advance LA Community,

Emily Dickinson said, “March is the month of expectation” – and we can’t wait to see what happens! One thing we are most excited about is daylight saving time starts on March 12th and the beginning of spring.

We are looking forward to the fun of St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th. In this month’s blogpost, we discuss how to make our own luck by taking advantages of opportunities that come our way, helping others, and taking the small steps toward meeting our goals.

Advance LA’s mission is to help our clients advance to independent adulthood. Our Life Skills Coaches meet with their clients remotely, or in person, to provide support and guidance in areas including academics, executive functioning, time management, organization, social/dating skills, job/internship obtainment and maintenance, and independent living skills.

Please contact us at advancela@thehelpgroup.org for more information.

Wishing you all the best,
Jeri Rochman, JD, MS
Program Coordinator
Advance LA

During the month of March, our thoughts can turn to the idea of luck and why some people seem to have all of it. There are those people who seem to easily find jobs they like, have a fun and supportive group of friends, and life just seems to go their way. But what about the rest of us?

The reality is that a successful life has very little to do with luck. People who live happy lives take the steps that are necessary to create the life that they want for themselves.
